Vladimir Dolgopolov expecting Zenit to sign Spartak’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aiden-McGeady-c4091 – Football news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vladimir-c36322 Dolgopolov has backed Zenit St. Petersburg to sign Aiden McGeady from Spartak Moscow during the summer transfer window.
The 51-year-old, meanwhile, lamented Igor Denisov’s departure to Anzhi Makhachkala earlier this week.
“McGeady is a good player technically. I do not like to talk on speculations but I think Zenit can strengthen their left wing position should they sign the player. Anzhi paid around 15 million Euros to land Denisov. I think it was a bargain for Zenit with
respect to the growing age of the player, who is already 29. Modern football has become a show business. So, if Denisov signed a good deal, he is a good business man. I do not think there something wrong in it. I think Tymoschuk’s signing will fill the void
after Denisov’s departure,” the Soviet Top League winner was quoted as saying.
News in Russian media has linked McGeady with a move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Martinez, new manager at Goodison Park, wants to sign the Irish winger for four million Euros.
With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 know that he has to inject fresh blood into the squad should he want to continue in the English Premier League.
If speculations are to be believed, the former Wigan manager will only sign McGeady should he fail to land his prime target http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432, will be available on a free transfer this summer.
Dolgopolov is of the belief that McGeady will give a new dimension to Zenit’s attack from the left hand side and backed Spalletti to play 4-3-3 formation.
McGeady, who has already expressed a desire to leave the Moscow-based club a week ago, scored five goals in 17 league appearances including a winner against Rubin Kazan at Tsentralnyi stadium back in December last year.
Dolgopolov went on to talk about http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anatoliy-Tymoshchuk-c5539, who joined the St. Petersburg club from Bayern Munich earlier this month. He lavished praise on the Ukrainian midfielder, saying that he will help Zenit fight for the league title next season.
