FC Alania Vladikavkaz head coach, Vladimir Gazzayev, while summing up his team’s performances, has uttered his joy over the successful completion of the second round in the Russian First Division.
Having claimed a total of 73 points from 38 matches, Alania are atop the league table and above Mordovia Saransk on goal difference. Gazzayev revealed that it has been a very tough season, highlighting their last league meetings
against KAMAZ Naberezhnye Chelny before the winter break.
Alanian Snow Leopards were relegated from the Russian Premier League last season, and Gazzayev is of the belief that the Russian outfit deserve the top spot, reiterating his desire to play in the Russian top division.
Speaking on his favourite match, the Russian national revealed that he thoroughly enjoyed the Russian Cup encounter against CSKA Moscow. The Moscow-based club were eliminated by Volgar Gazprom from the Russian Cup.
Gazzayev went on to reveal that the Russian outfit have experienced different tournaments this season and gave the example of UEFA Europa League. Alania were drawn against Besiktas in the play-off round but they failed to reach
the group stages of the European tournament.
The 31-year-old lamented their early exit from the European league, urging his team to put in more effort next time around.

for the Russian outfit.
“I am happy with the team’s results because we have successfully completed the task set by the club president. The team for the first time in its history reached to the Russian Cup finals and took part in the Europa League. Above
all we are closing in on reaching the Premier League.” the promising head coach was quoted as saying.
He added: “We need to improve our defence. I think we managed to play well from the beginning of the season with some talented players, most of whom are young with great potential.”
Gazzayev revealed that the third round in the Russian First Division would be exciting and they will try to stretch their lead atop the league table.
