Vladimir Guerrero faces Texas Rangers at Camden Yards
Who wouldn’t want to be affiliated with Vladimir Guerrero?
The player not only brings the best offense to the batter’s box but his mother tends to cook the best meals America has ever seen. That is something the Texas Rangers miss a lot.
Unable to come to terms after the 2010 season, the two parties parted ways. Fortunately, they both got to meet up again as the Baltimore Orioles hosted the Texans at Camden Yards.
Three hours before their supposed first encounter, Darren O’Day jumped right into his plate of black beans, chicken and rice. The Rangers’ relief pitcher felt right at home as Guerrero’s company rekindled old memories that still hold true to their heart.
Fortunately, the feeling stems, both ways and many Texas players were open about it.
Shortstop Elvis Andrus said, "What am I going to miss about Vlad? You mean besides the food? The whole Vlad. He was a great guy to talk to. He was a great hitter to watch and a great person to have in the clubhouse".
The unofficial captain of the Rangers’ squad, Michael Young, also had a few words to spare. The super utility infielder told the press that Guerrero was always a great teammate. He is a renowned hitter and even a hard working man.
On the prospect of going up against the Rangers, the designated hitter for the Orioles was also able to respond to the feeling communicated by his former teammates.
"I'm excited", Guerrero said. "I was only there for one year, but I'm excited to see all those guys again. Come game time, it's time to play ball but it is exciting to see those guys again".
Guerrero was always a strong man in the Rangers outfit. Playing for just a year, the hard hitter walked out of the club with 29 home runs and a batting average of .300.
"With those guys, it was very special, so that's why I'm going to try to do that same thing in here", Guerrero said.
However, the most cherished memory would have to be the 2010 World Series. The journey and the tournament were all part of Guerrero’s best moments in his career.
