Vladimir Isaichev wins the fifth stage of the Tour de Suisse 2012
Vladimir Isaichev of Team Katusha opened his 2012 winning account after his splendid performance during the stage 5 of the Tour de Suisse.
The cyclist rode brilliantly during the 192.7 kilometre chase to Gansingen and restricted the race favourites.
He completed the race in a quickest time of 4 hours, 58 minutes and 28 seconds and restricted the race favourites.
Ruben Perez Moreno of Team Euskaltel-Euskadi finished second with Salvatore Puccio of Team Sky Procycling and Karsten Kroon of Team Saxo Bank achieving the second and the third positions.
Sebastien Minard of Team AG2R La Mondiale, Daniel Oss of Team Liquigas-Cannondale and Klaas Lodewyck of Team BMC occupied the next three spots.
Isaichev started his professional pursuit with Team Lokomotiv in 2005 and stayed with the team for a period of one year.
He represented Team Karpin-Galicia throughout 2008-10 seasons and finally accepted an offer from the Russian side, Team Katusha for 2011 season.
Karsten Kroon of Team Saxo Bank, Klaas Lodewyck of Team BMC, and Vladimir Isaichev of Team Katusha claimed the first three sprints of the race.
Vladimir Isaichev succeeded at the first, the fourth, the fifth and the sixth mountain of the event while Klaas Lodewyck and Daniel Oss claimed the second and the third climb.
Martin Kohler, Martin Elmiger, Gregory Rast, Rubens Bertogliati and Mathias Frank were the top five Swiss riders on the day.
Rui Alberto Faria Da Costa of Team Movistar continued his overall dominance and leads the top overall spot after the stage 5 classifications.
Frank Schleck of Team RadioShack Nissan is 8 seconds behind at the second spot with Roman Kreuziger, Thibaut Pinot and Nicolas Roche grabbed the third, the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
