Russia’s top shuttlers Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov put up a spectacular display and secured Men’s Doubles title after beating their team-mates Nikolaj Nikolaenko and Nikolai Ukk in the final battle at Finnish Open 2012 on Sunday, April 1, in Finland.
Ivanov and Sozonov, who were seeded at number two in Men’s Doubles draw of the championship, proved their impressive skills and stamped their supremacy over their lower-ranked compatriots in an elevated fashion.
The higher ranked Russians played amazing badminton and did not drop any game in the final contest. They won this encounter in just 25 minutes without showing any mercy to their rivals.
On the other hand, Nikolaj and Nikolai could not continue their positive and impressive run in the title match and lost it to their higher ranked team-mates without winning any set.
In the first game, both sides played fast badminton as they executed flat strokes to create pressure.
However, Ivanov and Sozonov increased their speed in the court and remained successful in taking an incredible lead until the one-minute break.

In the meanwhile, Ivanov and Sozonov could not manage to create gap on the score board. Until the one-minute break, both pairs were close.
After the interval, Ivanov and Sozonov increased their speed and managed to push their rivals on back foot. They controlled the bird at net and kept their compatriots under pressure.
Ivanov and Sozonov remained positive and composed in the ending part of second set and ended it with a comfortable margin of 21-16.
This Men’s Doubles final battle ended in 25 minutes with the victory of Ivanov and Sozonov who thrashed their lower ranked team-mates in straight games with a striking margin of 21-10 and 21-16.
