Vladimir Ivanov ends Riichi Takeshita’s winning run in Men’s Singles semi-final of US Open GP Gold
Russia’s ace shuttler Vladimir Ivanov stretched his winning streak and ended the impressive run of Japan’s Riichi Takeshita in Men’s Singles semi-final of the OCBC US Open GP Gold 2012 on Friday, July 6, at Los Angeles, USA.
Ivanov, who is seeded at number three in the championship, has been impressive in all of his matches and stormed into Men’s Singles final after crushing Takeshita without losing any set to him.
The third seeded Ivanov was at his best while playing against his lower ranked Japanese rival and tamed him with his tremendous skills by ending up the contest in straight sets with a one-sided margin in just 37 minutes.
In the meanwhile, the un-seeded Takeshita could not stretch his staggering run in the tournament as he failed to show his class in semi-final contest and lost to him without putting up a strong impact.
In the opening set, Ivanov tried to show aggression in opening rallies but failed to push his rival on back foot as his Japanese opponent was playing fast and positive badminton.
The score was 8-8 when Ivanov managed to control the pace and executed powerful smashing which helped him to take a reasonable lead of 11-9 until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, the higher ranked Russian shuttler continued his authoritative play on court and eventually managed to win the game with a five-point advantage of 21-16.
Nevertheless, the second game was completely one-sided when Ivanov showed his aggressive skills on court by unleashing his powerful smashes.
The un-seeded Japanese man failed to respond well as he became slow and also conceded many points by executing negative shots.
Ivanov remained on track until the one-minute interval when he was miles ahead at 11-2.
After the mid-game break, Ivanov again did not let his Japanese opponent to take control of rallies. He was at his best speed on court and easily managed to snatch the second game with a huge 21-11 difference on the score board.
The third seeded Russian slaughtered Takeshita in straight games of 37 minutes with a comfortable margin of 21-16 and 21-11.
