Vladimir Malkov outshines Vasily Kuznetsov in pre quarter-finals of Russian National Championships
Men’s Singles expert Vladimir Malkov continued his unbeatable run in the second round of the Russian National Championships and marched into quarter-final round on January 29, 2013.
He locked horns with a compatriot player Vasily Kuznetsov in the local badminton complex of Saratov and sealed a splendid straight-set win in just 22 minutes.
The top seeded Russian campaigner played with great precision and locked this honour with an overwhelming result of 21-8 and 21-10.
Vladimir Malkov laid foundation of his supremacy immediately in the first set and maintained that authority until the last shot was played.
On the other hand, Vasily looked completely dazzled throughout this encounter as failed to pocket even a single match point.
In the opening game, first sign of trouble came when he lost couple of valuable points in a row and allowed the opposing shuttler to establish a decent lead.
Vladimir did not squander this opportunity and piled up a mountainous figure in no time. He strengthened his grip with few back-to-back productive rallies and registered a convincing margin of 11before interval.
After the mid-game break, the higher ranked Russian shuttler proved his supremacy on the court by prevailing in couple of consecutive rallies.
He widened the gap on points table by adding some vital points in his total. This powerful campaign confined pushed Vasily on the back foot and he could not come out of his rival’s influence until final stage.
Meanwhile, Vladimir struck hard and wrapped this segment of the showdown with an impressive knock of 21-8.
This win boosted his confidence and he played with even more perfection in the following game. He did not give his competitor even a single chance to counterbalance the situation.
He mounted pressure by ruling the court in the establishing rallies and then magnified the impact by putting a notable score of 11 before the one-minute break.
The latter part of game was also a dead contest as Vasily could not end his bad patch and remained at the lower end. He put a below par performance and knelt down after reading 10-21 margin on the board.
Now Vladimir Malkov will face Gordi Kosenko in the quarter-finals of 2013 Russian National Championships.
