Vladimir Malkov rises and shines in a Level 3 match – Sudirman Cup 2013
Spirited Russian shuttler, Vladimir Malkov, remained invincible in the Level 3 of Sudirman Cup and played a vital role in his team’s victory over France on Friday, May 24, 2013.
He had to face a talented French campaigner, Rouxel Thomas, who resisted for 53 minutes before surrendering with 21-10, 15-21 and 21-13 result.
Despite of his inconsistency, Malkov managed to prevail in the opening and ending segments of the showdown whereas the opposing shuttler could pocket only the second match point.
The opening game started with the Russian challenger launching an intensive attack and gaining a respectable advantage on the points table. He relished full benefits of his early lead and doubled his total in
next couple of rallies.
Malkov looked at his best before the one-minute interval as he ruled the court in many continuous rallies and piled up a mountainous figure of 11. The latter part of game also belonged to him as he did not make
even a single mistake and swept the table with an overwhelming score of 21-10.
The second set was also played in similar manner but with different results. This time it was Rouxel’s turn to prove his dominance in all areas of the court. The French campaigner took a slow start but then few
productive strokes helped him gain the required momentum. He reeled of many vital points and left his competitor far behind before the announcement of mid-game break. He capitalised his upper hand even after the interval and kept his challenger at the lower
end.
At first, Rouxel mounted pressure with a significant margin in the third quarter of the set and then magnified the impact with a concluding total of 21-15.
The spectators were expecting lot of fireworks in the decider but it proved a one-sided affair. The Russian male shuttler looked dominant from the very first stroke and he remained in commanding position throughout
the set.
Malkov raised his chances of success with a favourable margin of 11 and then served the notice of supremacy with a staggering knock of 21-13. This was a wrap and Malkov won this tie with 2-1 match score.
