Vladimir Malkov strolls into Men’s Singles round-of-16 at Vietnam International Challenge 2012
Russia’s spirited player Vladimir Malkov strolled into Men’s Singles round-of-16 after beating Chih Hsun Yang of Chinese Taipei in the second round clash of Ciputra Hanoi Vietnam International Challenge 2012 in Vietnam, on Thursday, March 29.
Malkov, who is third seed in Men’s Singles category in Vietnam International Challenge, lived up to expectations by playing remarkable badminton against the spirited Taipei shuttler and managed to win the contest with a reasonable score.
The third seeded Russian took just 25 minutes in the court to stamp his supremacy over his lower ranked opponent in straight games.
On the other hand, Chih Hsun could not play positive badminton in the opening set. However, he showed his brilliance in the second game and remained a little unlucky in the end and lost the battle with a decent margin.
In the opening set, Malkov started his run in an impressive manner as he geared up his speed from the opening points and remained successful in creating pressure on his rival.
Chih Hsun could not stop the aggression of his higher ranked opponent and remained struggling in the execution of his strokes in the right areas.
Until the interval in opening set, Malkov was leading the game with a comfortable margin.
After the break, the Russian continued his killing run in the game without showing any mercy to his lower ranked challenger. He remained positive and secured first game with a striking 21-10 score on the board.
In the second game, Chih Hsun showed aggressive approach as he played fast and attacking badminton and remained successful in matching the speed of his rival.
Until the one-minute interval in the second set, both men were close on the score board.
They continued playing fast badminton after the break and reached at the ending stage of second game without taking a reasonable lead.
The score was 21-21 when Malkov played with precision and managed to score two points in a row and bagged the game with a thrilling margin of 23-21.
The third seeded Russian managed to win this contest in just 25 minutes with an interesting 21-10 and 23-21 score on the board.
