Vladimir Morozov dominates Men’s 100m freestyle semi-final - FINA Swimming Championships (25m)
Vladimir Morozov of Russia dominated the semi-final of Men’s 100m freestyle on day four of the 2012 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) at Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul, Turkey, on Saturday, December 15.
The Russian swimmer devastated hopes of his opponents in the 100m freestyle discipline and cruised his way into the playoff as top contender for gold medal.
With his unrelenting efforts, Morozov remained prominently ahead of his closest competitor and surfaced on the finishing end for first position by producing a nice time of 45.79 seconds.
Morozov was followed by Luca Dotto of Italy, who was 1.04 seconds slower from him and concluded his race in second place by clocking a time of 46.83 seconds.
Dotto was chased by Tommaso D’Orsogna of Australia, who remained 0.06 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and ended his race in third place by touching the wall with an effort of 46.89 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Matthew Grevers of USA, who was 0.25 seconds slower from improving his position and emerged on the finishing blockade by reporting an effort of 47.14 seconds.
Subsequently, Grevers was traced by James Feigen of USA, who suffered a loss of 0.12 seconds from his foregoing finisher and appeared on the finishing wall for fifth place by producing a time of 47.26 seconds.
Sixth spot of the discipline was obtained by Hanser Garcia Hernandez of Cuba, who stayed just 0.02 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 47.28 seconds.
Hernandez was traced by Zhiwu Lu of China, who remained 0.01 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and entered the playoff as seventh fastest swimmer by posting a time of 47.29 seconds.
Last qualification spot of the race was obtained by Evgeny Lagunov of Russia, who was 0.06 seconds slower from his former finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 47.35 seconds.
In addition, Morozov was overjoyed with his fastest qualification effort in the race and stressed that he would struggle hard to please his fans by dominating the playoff of the 100m event.
