Vladimir Morozov earns Men’s 100m freestyle gold – European SC Swimming Championships
Vladimir Morozov of Russia earned gold medal of the Men’s 100m freestyle on day three of the 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Chartres, France on Saturday, November 24.
The Russian swimmer smothered hopes of his rivals in the 100m discipline as he showed his eagerness towards the finishing end for gold medal.
With his unrelenting efforts in the 100m discipline, Morozov stayed considerably ahead of his challengers from the start and proved his mettle for the crown. He remained a full body length ahead of his following swimmer and hit the wall for the title by posting a time of 45.68 seconds.
The gold medallist was trailed by Evgeny Lagunov of Russia, who stayed 0.84 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall as second best finisher by posting an effort of 46.52 seconds.
Third position of the race was obtained by Yannick Agnel of France, who stayed 0.28 seconds away from upsetting his former finisher and secured bronze medal by producing a time of 46.80 seconds.
Agnel was followed by Luca Dotto of Italy, who stayed 0.12 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing end for fourth position by touching the wall with an effort of 46.92 seconds.
Fifth best spot of the race was obtained by Pieter Timmers of Belgium, who stayed 0.03 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and settled on the wall with the timing of 46.95 seconds.
Timmers was traced by Gregory Mallet of France, who stayed 0.10 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and transpired on the finishing end for sixth place with an effort of 47.05 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was secured by Emmanuel Vanluchene of Belgium, who was 0.27 seconds behind and hit the wall with an effort of 47.32 seconds.
Vanluchene was traced by Kemal Arda Gurdal of Turkey, who stayed 0.26 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and touched the wall with a timing of 47.58 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, Morozov received massive admiration from the audience for his gruelling efforts in the freestyle event and received his medal after the session.
