Vladimir Morozov pockets Men’s 100m IM gold – European SC Swimming Championships
Vladimir Morozov of Russia pocketed gold medal of the Men’s 100m Individual Medley (IM) on fourth day of the 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Chartres, France on Sunday, November 25.
Morozov stayed in a prominent lead over his toughest challenger, Peter Mankoc from the beginning. With his impeccable start and powerful strokes, Morozov crushed hopes of his opponents and occupied the title.
Morozov stayed more than half a body length away from Mankoc and reached the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 51.89 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Mankoc, who stayed 0.75 seconds apart and tapped the wall for silver medal by reporting a time of 52.64 seconds.
Mankoc was followed by Martti Aljand of Estonia, who stayed 0.28 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and touched the wall for bronze medal by reporting a time of 52.92 seconds.
The third best finisher was followed by Gal Nevo of Israel, who stayed only 0.03 seconds slower from reaching the medal rostrum and ended his race in fourth fastest place by touching the wall with a timing of 52.95 seconds.
Subsequently, Nevo was followed by Emmanuel Vanluchene of Belgium, who suffered a deficit of 0.20 seconds from his foregoing finisher and hit the finishing end for fifth place by reporting a time of 53.15 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Martin Liivamagi of Estonia, who stayed 0.42 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing end by touching the wall with an effort of 53.57 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Jan Sefl of Czech Republic, who stayed 0.15 seconds slower from Liivamagi and tapped the wall with an effort of 53.72 seconds.
Last position of the event was secured by Diogo Filipe Carvalho, who remained 0.28 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and ended his swim in a time 54.00 seconds.
Furthermore, Morozov was extremely pleased with his top finish in the 100m discipline and articulated his desire of impressing his fans by achieving the same at the forthcoming 2012 World Short Course Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.
