Vladimir Morozov wins Men’s 100m freestyle gold – 2012 Salnikov Cup
Vladimir Morozov of Russia won gold medal of the Men’s 100m freestyle on opening day of the 2012 International Vladimir Salnikov Cup in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Friday, December 21.
The Russian swimmer showed no mercy to his opponents in the freestyle discipline and cruised his way towards the finishing blockade for gold medal.
With his notable form in the race, Morozov remained almost a body length ahead of his following swimmer and transpired on the finishing wall for the title by clocking an effort of 46.38 seconds.
The champion was followed by compatriot Nikita Lobintsev, who stayed 0.84 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall for silver medal by producing an effort of 47.22 seconds.
Third spot of the race was obtained by Evgeny Lagunov, who suffered a loss of 0.03 seconds from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing end for bronze medal by clocking a time of 47.25 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the discipline was secured by Sergei Fesikov, who was only an inch away from proving his eligibility for third position as he posted a time of 47.49 seconds.
Fesikov was traced by Alexander Sukhorukov, who was only a touch apart and transpired on the finishing end for fifth position by producing a time of 47.56 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Andrey Grechin, who stayed only one arm-stroke away from his foregoing finisher and settled on the finishing end by submitting a time of 47.83 seconds.
Seventh fastest spot of the event was obtained by Dimitri Colupaev of Germany, who was 0.53 seconds away from upsetting his foregoing finisher and cruised his way towards the finishing end by ending his race in a time of 48.36 seconds.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Oleg Tikhobaev, who was 0.30 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and touched the wall for eighth position by posting an effort of 48.66 seconds.
In addition, Morozov received a huge round of applause from the audience for his notable pace and articulated that he would try hard to achieve the same in future.
