Vladine Biosse to defend his USA New England super middleweight title against Joe Spina - Boxing News
Vladine Biosse, the current USA New England super middleweight champion, will defend his title against Joe Spina, the former IBF Inter-Continental super middleweight champion, in an eight-round bout, which will be held on May 24, 2012.
The ring for the bout will be stretched at Twin River Event Center situated in Lincoln, Rhode Island, United States and the above duo will headline the event. The pay-per-view is being promoted by Jimmy Burchfield of CES Boxing and the Thursday night show
will be co-headlined by the non-title eight-round bout between Richard Gingras and Terrance Smith.
Biosse and Spina both recently met at the press conference where the engagement was officially announced. The duo shared their thoughts about the bout and vowed to put forth the boxing fans a memorable showdown.
Vladine, 29, will enter the ring with too much drawbacks on his side. The champion will defend his title in a bit gloomy scenario since his opponent is not only more experienced than him but also resides far earlier in world rankings than Biosse.
In addition, Joe also possesses a better win and knockout ratio than the defending champion Biosse. The southpaw Vladine has been in a total 14 bouts and emerged victorious in 12. He has collected just six of his wins by knockout and collected his career’s
only loss by the fists of Denis Grachev.
Since then Biosse has been in a total two bouts and collected one draw and one unanimous decision win in his favour. Joe, on the other hand, has been in a total 30 bouts and boasts 26 wins with 18 via knockout.
Spina, also known as ‘The KO Kid’, has lost just two bouts in his career in fact is coming from a split decision loss against less experienced Jerson Ravelo. As far as the stats are concerned, Joe has a clear upper hand over Biosse but if the latter comes
up with a unique plan and optimally capitalises his southpaw stance, he might rise at the occasion.
During the press conference, Vladine ambitiously commented, “The city is mine. I have defended the title plenty of times. Of course, I have a lot of respect for Joey for what he’s done in the game. He’s done an incredible job, but I think I’m being underestimated
being the new guy in Rhode Island. Joey’s counting on his hard punching or whatever, but we all need to remember I do have a hand also, and I do knock people out.”
Joe, the challenger, while boasting his illustrious career remarked, “I’m too big and physical strong. I’ve boxed heavyweights to cruiserweights – the best in the world.” The odds are clearly in favour of Joe since he is in dire need to make a comeback and
skim the last effect loss off his resume.
