  1. No Not really required. It is just basic vocab. On GMAT there is more of Sentence Correction. If you have more questions feel free to contact gmat_kalyan@yahoo.com

  2. I just took the GMAT last Saturday, and I got a 700.  I'm a lot weaker in math than verbal; I'm in the 97th percentile on verbal.  There really isn't a lot of vocabulary on the test - it's more about grammar, reading comprehension, which words go together correctly, things like that.

Instead of seeing something on there like "The definition of impetus is: x*x", you'll see sentences that are possibly grammatically unsound and you need to pick the reworded answer that is correct.

So, the vocab isn't that advanced, but the grammar skills are.

Based on your question's wording, I would presume that English isn't your first language.  If possible, you may want to take a grammar course to help.  You won't be able to get a 750 without a pretty strong Verbal score, even if your math score is great.

    Good luck!!
