  1. Continue reducing the influence of money on election campaigns and on politics in general. If success of every election at every level depends on raising campaign money this is not democracy. People shouldn't be allowed to vote with dollars, only with their ballots. Public campaign financing would be a good solution and would result in a government that is more accountable to the general population and less beholden to wealthy donors and big corporations.

  2. LOL.  You are grossly mistaken.

FDA answers to Congress, not the food industry or the pharmaceuticals industry.   They do not "lie".

  3. Disband them and start from scratch.  Make them liable for their actions when re-instituted.  Make it so no manufacturers or pharma cos have any right to come within 200 miles of the FDA headquarters without express written permission for testimony on new products, and make it so that ALL that is subject to approval by the FDA have 3 independent research facilities completely test said product before FDA considerate - not one of the research facilities can have ANY link to anyone responsible for R&D of said product.

That would be for starters, and most likely only in your dreams.

  4. For people who trust the FDA,  then why do so many new drugs get recalled?

About 15 yrs ago, they were strict, now it seems alot get through that shouldn't.

I always go with older drugs- I'm not lettin them test further on me!

  5. The very best way to address this issue is to get the truth out about what is going on.  This is not as easy as you may think, however.  BIG money doesn't talk, it SCREAMS!  The head of the FDA is an ex-monsanto executive and over 50% of the employees are ex-monsanto employees.  The food industry corporations total revenue is larger than ALL OF THE CORPORATIONS IN AMERICA COMBINED.  With that kind of money, it is very difficult to make changes.  There is power in truth, but only if the information can get out.

The people we elect get their power from money.  Who do you think is supplying lots of money to them.  Do you actually believe that favors are not done for this money?  Does it really surprise anyone that Genetically Modified Foods do NOT carry a label telling us they are GMO?  Monsanto is the number one producer of GMO foods and seeds.  They are patenting LIFE which the U.S. patent office always agreed not to do.  If you own the gene, you own the food that comes from it, right?  Just ask the farmers in Canada and North America that have been sued for patent infringement and why they have to buy their seed from Monsanto companies each year and cannot use their own seed as they have done for centuries.

    good luck to us all

Yes, the FDA answers to congress, but does any member of congress have the knowledge in regard to drugs and food?  They make decisions based on the advice of who gives them the most money.  Without money, the politicians do not have any power.   Again, look at the results of what the FDA has done for this country.  Bad food, sick people, statistics now showing the U.S. as ranking 45th in the world for longevity --- that's 44 countries have people living longer than the people in America!  It won't be long before missionaries start arriving from those countries to help us!  The only country in the world where genetically engineered food is not labeled so there is conveniently NO TRACEABILITY when a problem happens from that food!  In 1905, only less than 5% of Americans were chronically ill.  In 2005, the conservative CDC reported that over 53% were chronically ill.  Does that sound like the FDA is our friend and that the system is working?
