  1. If you live in or near a major city in the US, you may, by diligent searching, find workshops that teach or help prepare you for a career in voiceover work. Community colleges sometimes have courses in radio and tv production which may include voice work, and you may be able to find an ad or two in local alternative education magazines for workshops or in vocal training in general, which can lead to a voiceover career.

Please note that most of these kinds of classes and workshops are for college-age or older students.

Pre-college voiceover wannabes usually get their start in school, in drama classes, debate clubs, readers theater classes, even English lit and poetry classes, and work up from there.

Do you read aloud to friends and family members? It's great practice! Can you record your voice as you read or speak a prepared speech or a poem, or practice different kinds of voices, accents and dialects? Also a good way to judge your own skills.

    Good luck!
