Question:

Voice type?

I have a question about my resume. You see, the last time I checked with my voice teacher, she said I was an alto on the verge of becoming a mezzo-soprano. "By next semester," she told me, "we will have you as a mezzo." So now it's almost next semester, and there is an audition during the summer. On the resume I give to the director, should I put "alto" or "mezzo"? Thanks for the help!

  1. Why not just put your vocal range ie G3-E6?  It will show them that you are versatile and capable of singing across ranges.

  2. put both. while being a mezzo soprano says you do have a good range, having been an alto shows you are well-trained in harmony. i am a high soprano, i usually take the descant part in choir; however, one year my teacher needed me to be an alto because there weren't many, and it really made me a good singer having had training in all the parts (melody, harmony, etc...) and alto is definately harder. so i suppose that is what someone reading a resume would consider if you put both :)

  3. you should ask yur teacher
