  1. I think you mean POTS(plain old telephone service) line,I have used skype and Vonage(vonage lets you keep your original #) also Wher I live it is possible to drop the POTS line and keep broadband I currently run 3.0Mbps for less than it cost to have phone and DSL Lite, not a bad deal

  2. Mobile broadband is fine for using voip programs.

I live in Lanzarote and believe it or not cannot get a land line because they´ve "run out of lines"!

So I use Vodafone Mobile Broadband and Freecall (Skype = Hype).

Freecall is cheaper on just about every call type you can make.

Provided you have money in your account (think of it like "Pay As You Go") you can make free calls to all UK landlines.

Also calls to Spain, USA, Australia and loads more.

  3. i dont think mobile broadband is quick enough for voip.

if anything, i think the quickest company that offers mobile broadband is 3 (as in the network 3).

if you got a laptop, then get their pay as you go dongle (or get it on contract), just drop it into your laptop and your mobile! but i dont think its quick enough for mobile tho.

im currently on vonage and thats voip. you should try em!   www.vonage.co.uk

  4. Mobile broadband will not be fast enough to process the data exchange for Voip. You will suffer continual broken links and time lag. Also you will very quickly exceed your cap because of the amount of data exchanged.

You might just as well make a mobile phone call because it will still cost you the same without the aggro.

The idea of Voip was for fixed line or cable broadband to make free calls!
