Volcanic ash can give off winter like conditions because.?

Is it because the ash particles block the formation of clouds, hence leading to the winter like conditions. If not, give your scientific evidence. Thanks

simple volcanic ash cuts off the sun for long periods of time killing plants trees and all vegetation. the cold comes from the fact that no heat can get though the dark ash clouds. thus the winter like conditions. if this is for school work look up the answer your self i went to collage and majored in geology.

It is because all those loose particles block the sun from reaching the ground. It has nothing top do with clouds/no clouds.

Yup. Also the emmittance of sulfur into the atmosphere affects that too.
