  1. You might check these out and find a location near you.

    United Way (www.liveunited.org)

Give an hour. Give a Saturday. Give your best. We all have special talents. Things we can do to help. And when we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. Whether it’s reading to children, or leading financial literacy classes for hard-working families, or delivering meals to homebound seniors, there are hundreds of volunteer options available every day.

    YMCA (www.ymca.net)

As a YMCA volunteer, you can lead an exercise class, read to a preschool class, coach a basketball team, cook for a bake sale, design a program brochure, greet people at the front desk, find items for an auction, serve as a role model for young people, help out in the office or at a special event, or be part of a group or committee working on a neighborhood problem.

You might also consider checking your local hospitals, nursing homes, and libraries. Older people love it when you come to visit them and just listen to what they have to say. You would be amazed about how good they feel just to have someone listen to them. And your local library may have some summer program that they take part in during the summer.
