Voleyball Tryouts?

I have been playing volleyball for 2 and a half years and try outs are in a month. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Any Drills I could do by myself without a net?:)

  1. If you've been playing for 2 and a half years. you've got to be pretty good. You know that the best things to do are do bump/set up against a wall, pepper with a partner (mom, dad, siblings, friends) and to make sure you're in shape. Run some, do squats, lunges and sit-ups.


  2. i would just take aa ball and practice hitting it up in the air and ask some friends to play vollyball with u >???

  3. THESE TIPS AND DRILLS WILL HELP YOU IMPROVE YOUR PASSING AND DIGGING SKILLS.

    TIPS:

    -FIRST FOLLOW THE ONE , TWO , THREE STEPS

    *READY POSITION

    *PUT HANDS TOGETHER (THEY MUST BE STIFF)

    *PASS AND FOLLOW THROUGH TO YOUR TARGET

    (DON'T SWING: IT WILL BE HARD ENOUGH FOR A LIGHT PASS TO YOUR TARGET)

    -KEEP YOUR BALANCE!

    -DON'T RUN WITH YOUR HANDS TOGETHER

    -ALWAYS BE DOWN AND READY

    ( A BALL CAN COME YOUR WAY AT ANY TIME)

    -TRY TO STAY IN CONTROL

    -IF YOU ARE THE FIRST ONE TO GET THE BALL, ALWAYS PASS TO YOUR SETTER. KEEP IN MIND IT HAS TO BE HIGH FOR THE SETTER TO SET. (THIS WAY THE SETTER CAN SET THE BALL TO THE HITTER, AND YOU HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF WINNING THE POINT)

    DRILLS:

    -SERVE RECEIVE: (GYM SUGGESTED) FOR THIS DRILL YOU NEED 2 PEOPLE (NOT INCLUDING YOURSELF): A SERVER AND A TARGET. HAVE THE SERVER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COURT AND THE TARGET RIGHT FRONT ON YOUR SIDE OF THE NET. YOU SHOULD BE POSITIONED IN MIDDLE BACK. HAVE THE SERVER SERVE DEEP BALLS TO YOU. USE THE TIPS FROM ABOVE TO RECEIVE THE SERVE AND PASS TO THE TARGET ACCURATELY. MAKE SURE YOUR PASSES ARE HIGH ENOUGH FOR THE TARGET (WHO IS USUALLY THE SETTER) TO SET THE BALL.

    -DIGGING:(NO GYM REQUIRED) FOR THIS DRILL YOU WILL A HITTER, A TARGET, AND YOURSELF. HAVE THE TARGET IN THE MIDDLE FRONT AND HITTER OFF TO THE SIDE. YOU WILL POSITIONED IN THE BACK. HAVE THE HITTER , HIT BALLS TO YOU IN DIFFERENT BACK POSITIONS. WHEN MOVING TO THE BALL YOU MUST SHUFFLE AND BE QUICK ON YOUR TOES. WHEN YOU RECEIVE THE HIT , DIG (BY GETTING UNDER THE BALL) AND PASS TO THE TARGET. KEEP IN MIND YOUR PASS MUST BE CONTROLLED AND HIGH ENOUGH FOR THE TARGET (SETTER) TO SET.

    HITTING TIPS AND DRILLS:

    -FOLLOW THE 1, 2, 3'S FOR HITTING

    *READY POSITION

    *APPROACH: START WITH YOUR RIGHT FOOT IN FRONT AND RIGHT BEHIND THE 10 FOOT LINE. THE FOOTWORK IS: LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT.

    *FOLLOW THROUGH

    -HITTING: (GYM SUGGESTED) FOR THIS DRILL YOU ONLY NEED A SETTER AND YOU, THE HITTER. (A BALL HANDER IS SUGGESTED SO THAT THE SETTER DOESN'T HAVE TO SHAG ALL THE BALLS) POSITION YOURSELF LEFT FRONT, AND THE SETTER MIDDLE FRONT. HAVE THE SETTER SET BALLS TO YOU, AND FOLLOW THE STEPS TO HIT THE BALL ACCURATELY TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COURT. CONTINUE THIS UNTIL YOU GET IT PERFECT.

  4. When you go to hit the ball, bend your knees, and get under the ball. Also, when the ball is far away, DO NOT swing at it, shuffle for it. If you swing at it, you are most likely to lose control of it.

         For a drill to keep control of the ball, go outside and bump, then set, then bump, then set, etc. You have to keep it high so you can set it. I  hope i helped!!! Have a nice day.
