Dmitri Cheryshev believes Volga Nizhny Novgorod need to improve the attacking ranks by signing a genuine winger.
Volga Nizhny Novgorod head coach, Dmitri Cheryshev, has shared his plans for the upcoming winter transfer window and admitted that the Volgari are looking for a winger in a bid to strengthen offensively.
Cheryshev admitted that the Russian outfit has conceded a lot of goals during the second league round and tipped them to find a good defender. However, he remained focused on signing an attacker.
“We are looking for wingers. We will try to find a number of quality performers to raise the defensive ranks but our emphasis is on finding a winger who can provide us a cutting edge offensively.
“In team building, I have always given priority to sign an attack minded player.” The former Sporting de Gijon player was quoted as saying
The Volgari, who were promoted to the Russian Premier League from Russian First Division last year, are currently at the fourteenth spot on the league table and seven points clear from the bottom spot.
Cheryshev admitted that Volga have had a terrible Russian top division season and urged his side to alter the results when the league resumes in March 2012.
He went on to reveal the importance of the remaining league matches and demanded quality football from his side.
Volga have managed to reach the Russian Cup quarter final after defeating Spartak Moscow in the round-of-16. Cheryshev revealed that the Russian outfit has immense potential and admitted that they have been unlucky at times.

Following the poor financial conditions, Cheryshev tipped Volga to find a free agent and registered his interest in taking a player on a season-long loan spell.
“We cannot afford to sign a lot of players. We will first try to sign a player on loan till end of the ongoing season.”
