Volga Nizhny Novgorod’s Dmitri Cheryshev laments sloppy performance against Zenit St. Petersburg
Volga Nizhny Novgorod head coach, Dmitri Cheryshev, has bemoaned his team’s performance following their 3-0 defeat against Zenit St. Petersburg.
After suffering a humiliating defeat, Volga have fallen down to the thirteenth spot on the Russian Premier League table. Cheryshev revealed that the Volgari are lacking winning mentality and they need to alter the situation because
they are in a relegation battle already.
With only a game left to play, Volga are currently five points clear from the bottom of the table. Cheryshev highlighted that the Russian outfit are in a critical situation and they need to win the upcoming league encounter against
Rubin Kazan at home.
The Russian manager went on to admit that Volga had mentally accepted the defeat before the game and said:
“I congratulate Zenit on a well deserved win but we had mentally lost the game before the match.”
He added: “It is a disease of the lower teams on the table to lose points against the leading clubs. I tried to motivate the payers in the locker room but the rivals outplayed us. I can only congratulate Zenith. We need to handle
the pressure and learn from our mistakes.”

Volga have failed to score a single goal from the last four league outings, and Cheryshev urged the fans to support the club at home and demanded their support in the upcoming home game.
