Volkswagen Jetta or Acura TL??

Question

so these are the cars i might get for my 16th birthday but i don't know which one is better in terms of:

-safety

-repairs

-reliability

etc etc

Acura hands down.  Great quality, and VW's suck.

I worked at VW and I would avoid at all cost.   Vehicles are assembled in Mexico and the quality/reliability was very poor.  For every 10 cars that went out, 7 came back in for maintenance issues.  Great looking car, great feel, and handling.

Acura TL is a very reliable car with good standard performance.  It's much bigger than a Jetta and the vehicle was designed to attract buyers in their late 20's-40's in mind.

I would recommend an Acura TSX.   Smaller than TL, good performance, reliable, and much cheaper than a TL.

Go to your nearest dealership and test drive the vehicle to buy the car that feels and reflect you the best.

I will get the 2008 Volkswagen Jetta it gets a power upgrade to its standard 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine to 170 and 177 lb-ft of torque and the 2.0T engine is now only available in the GLI. Trim levels are renamed S, SE and SEL. The SEL receives body color front and rear valance while the S and SE gets black textured color. A number of options are available including a Cold weather package and sunroof on the S and a premium sound package on SE. Now standard on all trim levels is power recline. = its cheeper

Actually,  a couple of weeks ago, I called my uncle. He told me that a couple days earlier, he was going through a green light in his 2006 Acura TL, and was T-Boned by a Ford Expedition with a grill guard at around 30MPH. The driver of the Ford ended up being intoxicated and delivered to the hospital by helicopter for injuries because he was not wearing a seatbelt. My uncle walked out with zero injuries, just a totaled car.

Even with this said, the VW was rated to be safer by IIHS. In terms of reliability, the Acura is going to be better. Like Lexus, if you want to get it fixed, you can take it to a Honda dealer for less expensive parts.

To answer which will be the best, I will have to go with the Jetta. The main reason being safety. I feel as if a 5-Star Safety Rating is beneficial to a car of a young driver, even an experienced driver. I am not saying the Acura isn't safe, I am just saying the Jetta is safer.

I would for sure consider the TL.  Acura are very reliable and safe cars.  Since they are made by Honda there will be very minimal repairs, if any.  I've owned Acuras before and they were a joy to drive and own.  You won't be disappointed.
