Volkswagen expensive car battery?

Is it normal to have to pay $150.00 for a car battery in a VW? It seems really high!

Yes we bought one for 150 to I thought I was getting ripped so took it back found a cheaper at walmart but still cost 98 but better than 150

Yes.  Just for the painted little VW logo  they make you pay thru the nose.   Get a battery from Walmart or Costco.    If it fits(that is all a battery has to do: physically fit - in the space provided and has = amount of cold cranking amps - it is the same battery. And that the positive post is on the correct side.   Match it and it is good for you.      Me, I got from Costco, for $40.// but not the 575amp unit  ,  I got 1000 amps.  (Less strain on the starter or other electrical systems) and cost 1/3 the cost of a volks battery.    "Tomayto, tomahto" - same thing.
