ok about a week or two i brought my car into firestone to get somthing behind the engine that was leaking antifreeze fluid and they fixed it.... fine... then the check engine light came on so i brought to autozone and they did a free check on it and it said code p1136 like fuel to lean failed MAF and causes could be low fuel pressure, 2. vaccume leak on engine, or failed Ho2s so i was so nervice so i went home and looked undeer the engine there was a hose clearly unhooked and open with somthing spitting out gas/air so i plugged it back in and it ran differently. but light still on.... so i went back there and he said to wait like 40 miles and that it might have to adjust. so my question is that do you think it ruined my MAF with it being off? anddo you think the light will turn off? and what are the signs of a timing belt going out? thanks you soooo much!!!!

  1. P1136 means that your fuel mixture is to lean.To much air,not enough fuel.That is good you're find that disconnected vacuum hose and plugged back in.That was the FIX.!!! None of other components is bad, you don't have to worry about. Light will turn OFF after number of cycles,but I would suggest to reset it with scanner(Autozone should know how to do that unless you dealing with Autozone parts runner).Now about timing belt...go by manufacture recommendations.Do not ignore that,other wise you will pay dearly for head repair.

  3. on VW you have to reset the check engine light .it wont turn of by its self.

  4. Sounds like the hose that was disconnected was done by the mechanics that replaced the hose on the back of your engine- possibly a heater hose or some other cooling hose. It seems that when doing the job, they forgot to reconnect the hose you're talking about the you reconnected. Im assuming a vacuum line but I can't say without seeing it. If so, wait about 40 or 50 miles and the light should go out by itself. No harm done. This is a common thing when a repair is done after the check engine light comes on. The system has to adjust and the light will shut off on its own. If it doesn't, something else is wrond. However, I'd put my money on you correcting the problem when you reconnected the line and you just have to wait for the system to adjust, like the mechanic said. Also, about the timing belt going out. When it goes out, your car will stop running. Please get it replaced before it does or will cost you a lot more later. Consider spending $500-600 on a timing belt service (including replacing the water pump and crankcase/cam seals) now instead of the chance of needing to spend $1,500-2000 later if the timing belt breaks.
