Volkswagen thinking about joining Formula 1 after 2013
Car manufacturing company Volkswagen supported the fact that Formula 1 is going to use

“environment friendly” and efficient engines starting from 2013 and since the sport is taking a bold and unique step, Volkswagen praised FIA for thinking about the future of the sport and betterment of mankind as well.
However, the car making company revealed that they are not committing its future to Formula 1 in any way.  Along with many other new regulations, the new engines policy was also confirmed recently along with the re-introduction of KERS and legalization of
team orders for 2011.  Volkswagen has been indicating that they want to become a part of the sport but they are not keen to join the sport currently since Formula 1 cars are using V8 engines.
The car makers are not willing to enter the sport even through their Porsche and Audi brands until the cars use V8 engines. However, Marque’s motorsport representative Hans Joachim Stuck recently told the media that Volkswagen would be interested to join
the sport after 2013 as the company is interested in the 2013 rules.
According to Norbert Haug from team Mercedes, the engine budgets will be reduced by almost a quarter and as a result, less money will be required to manufacture engines for the cars. These engines will be very efficient and environment friendly as they will
consume lesser fuel.
“The conditions for a possible entrance of the Volkswagen group have been created. We have not decided anything, but we very much welcome the FIA's decision,” Stuck told the media.
It would be great to see a Volkswagen team on the grid for a change rather than the usual Red Bull, Mercedes, Ferrari, Lotus and Renault teams.
“The engine rules are a good starting point for Volkswagen in Formula One,” he added.
Volkswagen should pack their bags and start thinking about their strategy if they want to enter the sport because they would not want to create a bad impression in their debut season in the sport now wouldn’t they?
