  1. it depends can u tell me more of what position you are interested in playing and maybe how tall you are other then that being able to pass is always good no matter what position

  2. To train for my volleyball tryouts every year, i go to the gym 5 days a week, doing cardio workouts 2/5 days and weights and aerobics 3/5 days. I also do plyometric exercises daily, which include running stairs, box jumping, and a multitude of other exercises.

I also go to my local volleyball club 3 days a week and hit, dig, pass, serve, block, set,  and other skills until I have them near perfect. While skills are not everything, they are extremely important. Try and have yourself decent in everything --- I've set my whole life, but was put on the national team as a stong side hitter, and everyone's scared to get in front of my hits.

You also want to get the right mindset --- don't think about being better than everyone else, think about playing how YOU think is best. Also, try and get friendly with the coach - let him know who you are, and that you're dedicated. Hustle to every ball, and put forth 100% for everything that you do in tryouts --- wether its a hit, a serve, or even just shagging up balls.

  3. Bumps, sets, spikes, and serves.

During the summer, try to get a friend to play with you, so that you can get used to controlling the ball. Also, get your friend to set the ball so that you can spike it over the net.

When you're by yourself, practice serving, bumping, and setting.

  4. get your ball and everyday go practice passing the ball on the side of your house (over the garage is my favorite). it really does help you learn to controll the ball. make sure you can pass. if you can't pass there is a very small chance you'll make the team. basic passing skills is a MUST.   also if you have a basketball goal, practice setting into that. thats how i learned to controll mine, and if you do it enough it will build up your muscles. for serving, do the same as passing. step back from the wall about twenty five feet and practice your serving. :D

    hope this helps.

if you have friends that have played volleyball before ask them for help. you won't regret it.

  5. Im going to do the same thing let us Know if you make it I hope i do and u!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Plyometrics are really essential.... which are like doing stairs, jumping up bleachers, etc. Also, many coaches time their players on the mile run. Try to get under 12 minutes. Conditioning is always the hardest part of try-outs, hence the name "h**l week." Push-ups, sit-ups and "suicides" (which are sprints to and from each line on the basketball court. Volleyball techniques can be taught to you during tryouts, just focus on conditioning first.

If you are already conditioned, then try picking a spot on the other side of the net and try to serve it there. Squats help your passing game. Always keep your butt close to the floor and stay balanced. Trainging on the beach will really help your jumping game... which is what you use for hitting and blocking.

Good luck with try outs. Stay strong through it and invest in some knee pads. Whatever the coach tells you, it's usually for a good reason, so don't hold any grudges. It's all for the betternment of the team. Have fun training :)

  7. basics

  8. umm... well... it would help if you went to clinics as much as possible and just play around w/ a friend that you know that is more experienced then you. and just be confident when you go. and knowing the coaches helps a lot. and basically practice as much as you can!
