what are different terms in volleyball such as spike and serve??? i have to make a poster for gym about volleyball and i cant remember anything.

  2. the spike is when you hit the ball over the net to the other side. a pass or bump is when the ball hits your forearms. then the setter sets the ball with her hands, so that the hitter can spike or hit the ball. serve is when the person hits the ball over the net from the back of the court, this is what starts the play

  4. A spike is when the ball comes right over the net then you jump up and hit it with one hand. An overhand serve is when it's your serve and you throw it up and hit it with one hand. And underhand serve is when you hold it with one hand and hit it with a fist with the other. And a set is using 2 hands when you kind of lift the ball up.

  5. Spike is also known as a HIT too.

    Pass or bump is when you pass it with your arms out.

    Set - when you put your hands above your head like moose ears.

    Serve - When you serve....lol.

    Recieve - When the other team serves and you back up.

  8. serve- under hand, over hand, and jump serves.

    bump- what you do on the first hit to get the ball to the setter. but you hit it on your forearm

    set- on the second hit the setter pushes the ball up like shooting a hoop in basketball sort of...they set it up to be hit over the net

    hit/spike/downball- when some one hits the ball over. the difference is a hit is without jumping off the ground, spike is when you do an approach and jump of the ground and slam the ball down on the other side of the net, downball is when you hit it over and sort of do a circle with your arm.

    set-when you hit the ball with your fingertips when you are trying to set up the spiker

    serve-when you either hit the ball overhand or underhand in order to start that volley

    ace-when one team serves the ball and when the ball goes over nobody on the other team hits it and it goes to the floor

    striker-another word for a spiker

    block-when somebody on the other team spikes a ball and your team tries to stop it at its highest point by putting both hands up as high as they can in order to knock it back onto the other teams side

    approach-fast stride toward the net by a spiker

    bump-forearm passing

    dig-diving to return a spike

    doublebump-when the same person hits the ball 2 times in a row(illegal move)
