  1. what you really want to learn first is bumping. it's really simple. just try to keep the ball in motion and you will get the hang of it. just try your best and remember to have fun.

  2. 5'5 is not tall for 13 and 14, not in volleyball standards. To be a hitter at that height, you will have to be able to jump REALLY high. A better position for you and your friend would be defensive specialist or even setter. So, if you are determined to be a hitter, work on your jump A LOT! My recommendation would be to practice passing and setting, you will get a lot farther.

  3. practice volleyball and how to spell

I am in 8th grade and on a select volleyball team

    i am a spiker/blocker/setter and I am 5'9

You two are probably better at something else

  4. Pay close attention to EVERYTHING Adonai said

  5. get better

  6. Not to sound mean but most hitters are above 5'5 and you're not too tall for your age.  I am 14 too and 5'10 and i play middle hitter for the Varsity team.  If you practice hard you could be a really good back row player or a setter...remember there is more to volleyball than hitting the ball...

  7. well first off calm down!!! and second just being tall doesn't meant anything when it comes to vball. i've seen plenty of girls that are really tall and can't even pick up one ball. so don't go in there with a big head and act like you own the place. So just try to get better at picking up balls and you'll be set to go!!

  8. well, good luck! i've been playing for 6 years and im in 8th grade, only i am five foot nine! Practice a lot, make sure you follow through, shake it off if you miss it, and just have a good attitude. Coaches always look for the encouraging people!

  9. As a high school volleyball coach I can say your attitude matters first, skills can be developed rather quickly.

Most 8th graders lack any skill that would help them at the high school level as the  nature of the game in high school is significantly different than 7-8th grade ball.

Within three weeks of high school your skills will be adequest to play a game. After that you keep working All The Time to increase your skills and maintain a compettitive attitude.

Pay attention when at practice, don't yap, chatter with friends as you will not make the cut, be it literal or figurative if your not up on the game you won't play much.

In short, give it time and I promise you woin't "suck".

The person directly above me is the personality that you may or may not bump into at your school, blow her off as she is about herself.

My best backrow passers are 5-5 and Less, volleyball is a Dynamic sport and is best played with attitude, guts and not altitude and bad attitude.

Remember, DEFENSE is half the game, Backrow is Half the defense and usualy play a larger part than front row in defense as hard hits are there and not in front row at the net, relax, GO PLAY the game.

  10. dont be afraid of the ball.! ur aim is to hit the ball, not catch it.. practice a lot.! and control ur arms in hitting the volleyball. xD and ofcourse, have fun!!!

  11. just practice go to camps and things like that

  12. you think you are tall I'm only 13 and 5'7 and play back row

  13. Practice practice practice!!!!!!! I know for a fact practice is boring. Do scrimages with your friend and the loser has to do something. Make it fun!

  14. practice and more practice..

the more the better you'll be. and make sure your hearts in it.. being on a volleyball team is a priveledge, dont play with it..

    i love volleyballl.

and remember to give your all in practice and on the court...

    good luck! have fun.
