  1. It is Libero , pronounces  LEE-be-ro.

REPLACE your middle blocker/opposite hitter(best attacker/worst passer) with your Libero after MB/OPP serve and replace MB/OPP back when Libero rotate to the front row.

After your Libero sit out for the other MB/OPP serve, the Libero can replace the second MB/OPP.

Libero can replace ANY back row(the same player needs to replace the Libero when s/he rotate to front row).

Libero can also replace any back row BEFORE the first serve of every game/set.

Libero needs a jersey with contrasting color to be able to identified by referees(w/o proper color jersey, L can be denied entry). Jersey can be COMPLETELY different design.

Do this again if you need to as long as your Libero has sit out for ONE dead ball before s/he can replace again.

  2. just pretend the libero isnt there like back right will go 2 back left instead od back middle

  3. Most teams use the libero to come into the back row for the two middle hitters after they have served, but there are many other ways that you could use the libero.  Last year my best passer happened to be one of our middle hitters so instead I used my libero for one middle hitter and part of an outside hitter.  In the past I have also used it for a middle and an opposite.  I have even heard of one coach putting their libero in to serve receive only (that is right, any time they got the serve the libero came out).

With the additional priviledge of the libero being allowed to serve at the high school level this coming year, there are a lot more opportunities to use the libero in different ways.  We were lucky enough to be one of the test states last year and our liberos were serving last year.

If your 2 middles are the worst back row passers, that is definitely the easiest way to go, but if you can mix it up...go ahead. Have fun with the position.  There are a ton of possibilities!!

  4. The rotation with a libero usually means that there are fewer people in the back and the libero is responsible for pretty much everything in the back. Usually 2-3 recievers.

  5. Well, there are a number of ways.  I'm assuming by Labaro you mean libero or defensive specialist.  Since the libero can basically come in anytime in the game for almost any player (just make sure that the player that was subbed out comes back in for the libero) the addition of one shouldn't affect your rotation much.  It just gives you more subs to use for offensive strategy then having to use a sub every other rotation to adjust your offense to defense when your hitters go back row.

  6. As a high school Volleyball Coach I love the Libero position; simply rotate them into the back row at will, so long as the ball is not in play or so long as the server is not preping for serve; be sure to rotate them out when they are in position to move forward of the ten meter line as they are not allowed at the net and must remain backrow.

Your Libero Must have a jersey Different than your other five on the court; check out the Libero Jersey requirments online by search.
