I'm trying out for volleyball next year and I'm going to the 7th grade. I just started practicing a month ago and tryouts are in either in the summer or in the beginning of the school year.

I was wondering what moves I need to do the best on and the best workouts? MY HIEGHT IS 5 ft 2 inches.

  1. I started playing volleyball in middle school and I played in high school, college, and even did some coaching. I agree with the person before me. I would practice your bumping skills because someone your size could make a good defensive specialist. Practice by having someone throw the ball at you as a hard as possible, and work on having the ball reach a target point (which would be the setter in a real game). Good luck!!

  2. you need be able to conrtol your serve, bump, and your set.

if you get your spike that would be impressive to the coaches.

also try to get your serve really powerful, like hard for the other team to hit. to do that build up the strength in your serving arm.

  3. I think the skills you have to really be good at are Spiking, Setting and Blocking.  It would also be good if you can jump (for spiking).  You're arms needs to be strong too for spiking.

  4. Hey since ur in seventh..! this is a perfect time to work your spiking ablitites..! cause spiking is one of the imp postions in the game..! do more pull ups and stuff for making your arms proper..! then do touch ups with the net which will help you with spike as well as block..! Then learn to do jump servs that will really impress everyone..! best of luck kid...!

  5. work on overhand serving, bumping and setting with your hight unless your an amazing jumper you'll probably play back row which is good bumping and serving! most important work on those and...

    GOOD LUCK!!

  6. serving and bumping and setting and spiking will be a bonus =]

  7. you should work on bumping and serving.  if you get good at blocking or spiking on a full sized net, that will be very impressive at tryouts

  8. passing(bumping) controlled is super important!!! also, making serves is probably the most important. blocking isnt very important in 7th grade, and when your 5 2. im 5 6 on a club team and we dont even block yet. when you spike, make sure you have a lot of top spin. lastly diving on your stomach is something you need to do but a lot of people cant.
