Volleyball Australasia: Preparations start for New Zealand Open Beach Volleyball Tournament
The clock is slowly ticking down and year 2010 is inching its way to the end, the excitement is growing high about the upcoming events in 2011. It is only two days left that the world will see new sun rising in the dawn of a new year. A host of new events
have been planned in the month of January. The mega event of New Zealand Open Beach Volleyball is one of the most awaited events, which will hit the town next month.
The New Zealand Open Beach Volleyball Tournament is a major attraction for beach volleyball enthusiasts. The tournament is scheduled to be held on January 22 and 23 for both genders. Commonly the sport is hosted at the beaches of Northern Island, Auckland
but this year it will be organised at the Mount Main Beach for the first time. Teams are getting ready for the big competition. This tournament is an excellent opportunity for local players to showcase their capabilities on sand.
The preparations for the New Zealand Open have officially begun. The Mount Beach is hosting a two-day Beach Volleyball Grand Slam, which started out today (Wednesday, 29 December 2010). This tournament will complete its run on Thursday, 30th December,
2010. The event has created a lot of buzz as it is the biggest annual tournament at the Mount beach, New Zealand. The aspiring young beach volleyball enthusiasts take part in this activity, in order to sharpen their skills for New Zealand Open Tournament.
New Zealand’s top gun, Kirk Pitman also showed today at the Mauao Beach Volleyball Grand Slam. However, he is not competing at the competition. He is volunteering for the player-run organisation and has been seen among the general spectators. While talking
to a media correspondent, he said that: “There are 24 men’s and women’s teams entered into the open grade category, and another 24 junior teams that will compete today.”
The weather in land down under on the opening day of the Grand Slam Tournament is quite pleasant. It is pretty sunny and shiny on the beach, mounting the morale of the team. The quarter and semi finals of the Mauao Beach Volleyball Grand Slam will be featured
tomorrow at 12 PM (local time).
