Volleyball Canada opens registration for the 2011 Volley Jam
Volleyball Canada is offering registration for the upcoming 2011 Volley Jam tournament, which will kick off in the last week of March. The Manitoba Volleyball Association and Volleyball Canada have once again joined hands to organise a thrilling competition
for young volleyball stars. The Women’s National Training Centre at the University of Manitoba will host the boys’ and girls’ tournaments. This is the second joint-venture of Volleyball Canada and Manitoba Volleyball Association.
Last year, they launched the first edition of ‘Volleyblast’ tournament, which featured only girls’ competitions. Winnipeg based National Women’s Volleyball Team served as hosts of the event, while University of Manitoba Investors Group Athletic Centre staged
the nail-biting competition of different age-groups. A total of 47 teams became part of the tournament and played in the Under-14, Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 categories. The three-day event of Volleyblast featured 136 matches in total and proved to be
a huge success. This time around, the Volleyball Canada and Manitoba Volleyball Association are putting up another exciting event, the 2011 Volley Jam.
The 2011 Volley Jam has an extra feature as it will also include the boys’ competitions. The Under-14 and Under-18 athletes of both genders will be allowed to take part in the upcoming tournaments. The girls’ tournament is scheduled to run from the 25th
to 27th March and it will be followed by boys’ tournament at the same venue. The boys’ tournament will complete its length from 1st to the 3rd April. This is a high time for teams to get registered for the tournaments. The
registration deadline for girls’ event is 4th March, while 11th March is the deadline for the boys’ tournament. The deadlines are quickly approaching and time is running short, so the aspiring players and teams should get registered for
the tournaments as soon as possible.
The tournament will also offer a unique opportunity to teenage players of both girls’ and boys’ tournaments to interact with players and coaches of the National Volleyball Teams. The National Team athletes will sign autographs for fans and will be available
throughout the events. They will sit on team benches and mingle with the participants of the 2011 Volley Jam. This is going to be a special treat for the volleyball enthusiasts as well.
