Volleyball Europe: Avo Keel honoured as the successful coach of Men’s Volleyball Team in 2010
The challenging sport of Volleyball ruled the sports scene in Estonia this year. It was the most talked-about game in the country. Year 2010 brought a lot of success for the Men’s National Volleyball Team of Estonia. They exhibited an incredible show of
volleyball and earned a good name for country, while competing at local and international events. As the 2010 season is reaching its end, the Estonian Volleyball Federation held an ‘end of the year’ award ceremony in order to honour the dedicated team for
their tremendous work. The annual ceremony was staged on Wednesday night (December 26th, 2010) in Tallinn, Estonia.
The Men’s National Volleyball Team of Estonia played under the supervision of Avo Keel, the head coach. His carefully designed strategies led the team to success at different platforms. In acknowledgment to his great work, he was named the ‘Coach of the
Year’ in Estonia for year 2010. Likewise, the Men’s National Volleyball was named ‘Team of the Year’ in Estonia. Additionally, the Estonian Volleyball Federation was named one of the best National Federations in 2010 at the award ceremony.
Moreover, Keel was also recognized for his efforts with the local club teams. Avo has also been attached with the best volleyball club of Estonia, Selver Tallinn. The Tallinn club team is also catching limelight on account of their amazing progress under
the command of the remarkable coach. The team is currently playing in the 2011 GM Capital Challenge Cup.
Team achievements
This year, the Men’s National Volleyball Team of Estonia put up a great effort at the qualification tournament of CEV European Championship. They proved their mettle in deadly encounters and qualified for the final round of 2011 CEV European Championship
for second time in row. Last year, they finished at 14th place but it was the first time for Estonian team to play in the final round of the CEV European Championship. They were challenged by heavy teams such as pre-favourite Holland, whom they
defeated twice. The 2009 CEV European Championship was hosted by Turkey and Poland clinched the top-slot in ranking.
