  1. Relax. It's the first thing you should do. You play a waaay better game if you relax. And also don't say negetive things to yourself either. Be positive! That'll also help you get rid of the gitters. And make sure you have everything (water bottle, jersey) it'll help you not panic. Hope I helped.

  2. morgan are u serious!!! at least u made the team!!! now thats embrassing if u didnt make the team like me!!!

  3. I've never had the fear of a game because I've played sports since I was 5 but I coach a girls basketball and some of the new players will get really nervous and not even want to go out there I tell them just have fun with it win or lose have a good time it's game it's meant to be something fun! take a few deep breathes and get into it whenever I get new girls on my volleyball team they'll get out on the court with me and just get so nervous that they dont move so I usually joke around and do something stupid to make them laugh and then they're fine just be happy have fun

    Good Luck! :)

  4. I had the same problem last year! But I just tuned out the crowd and I only focused on the ball and my team. Just pay attention to what matters!

  5. Don't worry, once you start playing you will forget about everything.Because your so involved in the game.Trust me you won't be the only one that makes a mistake.

  6. RELAX! make sure you are in a good mood all day and stay positive. Tell yourself that you can do it.

have fun when you play. When you get all tense during the game you focus on the bad that happened before and not on what is going on at the time.

drink plenty of water and eat good a couple of hours before the game.

Its alot of fun and I have gone with out the gitters for about 8 years now. good luck at the game

  7. They all go away when you step on the court.

I get nervous before every game I play.  But I find that I get so into the game I am playing, I forget all that are watching.  People have asked me if I have heard them shout something during a game, and I honestly didn't because I tune everything out.  You will find this is mostly true.

Just go out there and play your best, and have a good game.  That is all anyone wants to see.  If you play your best, then all will be fine.  That is all you need to remember.

  8. I believe that you have been dreaming about this day for a while, so that theretically this is NOT your "first game" :)

Just relax, and have fun. Your game will come to you.

  9. Tell everyone how horrible you'll be.  Then notice the mistakes both sides make.  Aim to make only one good play while you're in.

On the bench, pay attention to the ball and how the other players work.  Visualize yourself being on the court with them.   So that when you rotate in, you'll feel mentally warmed up already.

Then when you're in and you make more than one good play, you'll feel a whole lot better.  And you'll get a rush of self confidence.  That's what you need the most.  If you don't do well, you've already managed your family's expectations.

But most importantly, accept that being your first time, a couple really bad plays are in order.  It's OK to mess up.  Everyone does in the beginning.  There are only a few veteran players that never seem to mess up.
