Question:

Volleyball Help, Please?

I am 13 and about 5'3. I am good at volleyball, though I don't really know what I'm doing. I want to put together my own team, and I have someone who would be coach. They've played throught highschool and college. But I don't know how to get more members. We can go through the homeschoolers to set up games against people, so that's no prob. But most homeschoolers aren't very good at the game....at all. So far I have 3 members(including me) for the team. I need at least 12 so we can divide it into teams for practice. Any ideas for how to get more members? And any ideas for some drills and such to build team spirit and all that???

By the way, what is the age thing?? Someone said it would be 12-14, then someone else told me it would be 13-17. Which one would it be? And would it be juniors or what?? I have no idea...I'm sure the coach would, but I just wanna know so I can write it on the flyer or whatever when I'm recruiting members.

  1. One coach and 3 members should be enough to set up your regular practice. Find a park and set up your net so that you have better visibility. Talk to local newspaper (in my area it is Acron) and see whether someone can help you throw an ad. Flyers should also work if you can deliver door-to-door.

You can set up a team "under 14" for less competitive games, or "13(14)-17". Give yourself a club name and there will be lots of leagues in the States that will consider your application if you have enough players. You need to consider how much travel you can take, and how much expense each player is expecting.

  2. me and my friends started our own team. its really not that hard! the coach would know some dills you can do to help you guys. if your schol has a volleyball team then you can see if the girls from the team will play, but if you dont or they wont you can stick with the homeschoolers they can learn. when someone would make an ace, a serve that is not recieved, we would holler 'KINGS, QUEENS, ACE'. when you say ace you slide on the court.

You would be juniors, and it depends on the organization you are playing for but it would most likey be 12-14.

    GOOD LUCK!

  3. You only really need like 9 players. But to scrimmage I would get about 10 because you can play 5 on 5 at practice. Would you make it a registered club? That would take some work. Age divisions---

    GRADES 4-6-12'S

    GRADES 7,8-14'S

    GRADES 9,10-16'S

    GRADES 11,12-18'S

Just try some drills. A good coach would have a lot...
