  1. Usually there is a structure to volleyball warmups...

First players from both teams loosen up their arms and stretch a bit... usually players break off into pairs or threes and begin by throwing the ball back and forth, focusing on really stretching the arms back... over-emphasize the throwing motion. Then you can start doing "hits" into the ground. Throw the ball up and use a standard spike swing (no jump necessary) to spike the ball into the ground so it bounces to your partner.

Then you can move into bump-set-hit series where you hit the ball at your opponent, they bump it up, and you set it for them so they can hit at you. The idea is to keep it going so the ball doesn't hit the ground.

Then the structure kicks in, as the court is opened up to one team, then the other. When it's your team's turn, coaches or players will lob the ball to the setter who sets up a hitter so that you can warm up in a game type situation. Defensive specialists will dig the warmup hits. After both teams have gone, teams break into their own sides and serve balls to each other... by then everyone is nice and warm and have had a chance to eye each other up from across the net!

  2. We good chants
