Volleyball Latest: U.S. Army injured personnel all set to take part in training camp
The U.S Army has found a great outlet to channelize the energies of its injured army personnel in the shape of Warrior Games. These games are going to take place in 2011 for the second time, starting from 16th May and lasting till the 21st
May.
The Warrior Games will be hosting several sports including volleyball. Starting from 7th January and lasting up until the 9th January,  50 army personnel- all injured- will start practicing at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Wellness
Center. Because of the nature of the injuries endured by the U.S. army members, volleyball is going to be played in a sitting position. Out of the 50 that are going to sharpen their skills, 40 will be eliminated while the remaining 10 will go on ahead to participate
in the Warrior Games.
The training at the Wellness Center will commence in the following way. On the first day, each of the 50 army personnel will be given individual training. On the second day, the members will be divided into teams of six and coached accordingly. On the last
day of the training session, a prep tournament will be held in which every member would be able to evaluate himself.
“The highlight for Central in hosting this training camp is the opportunity to showcase our program and what we have to offer injured athletes,” said Elliot Blake, UCO sitting volleyball coordinator.

The Warrior Games are scheduled to takes place at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. It is going to play host to 200 injured army personnel encompassing all U.S. military branches. The games have been formulated to include as many events as
possible in which the injured army personnel may participate. Warrior Games have contributed a great deal in providing these soldiers with a sense of fulfillment.
Sitting volleyball managed to gain a lot of popularity among the participants, the majority of whom found it very exciting and exhilarating. Blake said that she would like to see sitting volleyball become a competitive sport in times to come.
Other sports events include shooting, swimming, archery, track and field, cycling, sitting volleyball or wheelchair basketball.
