Volleyball News: The 2011 CEV Men’s Champions League will resume tomorrow
After 20-day break, the qualification tournament for the 2011 CEV Men’s Champions League is scheduled to resume tomorrow (Wednesday, 5th January, 2011). A total of eight matches were played among Pool A, which included men’s club volleyball teams
from Russia, Germany, Bulgaria and France. In the previous matches, Generali UNTERHACHING of Germany and Zenat Kazan of Russia remained successful. Both teams have performed tremendously and captured three matches apiece. However, the Russian team is placed
in top slot as it has earned 10 points, while Generali follows with 9 points. The French team of As Cannes is staying at the bottom as the team failed to win any of its matches, while Bulgarian CSKA Sofia is at number 3.
Two matches will be played on Wednesday, 5th January, 2011. In the first encounter, CSKA Sofia of Bulgaria will face France As Cannes. Likewise, the second match will feature the arch rivals German and Russian teams. It will be a heated competition
as both sides are prepared for the big bang. The assistant coach of Zenat Kazan commented: “We are well prepared and are confidently going into the game”.
On the other hand, the German squad has also been preparing for the clash. The Generali team will be trying to go higher in the ranking. The team is just one point behind rivals Zenat Kazan. The upcoming match will surely be very decisive on their part.
The assistant coach of Generali, Kahlmann expressed his views: “We are not without a chance. We want to keep the match open as long as possible and be part of a spectacle. We have to serve well. If we do that we can put pressure on every opponent.”
The German club team has worked out great performance in 2010 season. They appeared in 17 matches and pulled off success in 15 games, which is a great achievement. They lost one match to their compatriots SCC Berlin, while the second match of Zenat Kazan
in the same tournament. Wednesday’s match will be a great chance for Germans to shake off their bad impression. That is why; the team is preparing hard to claim the important match against Zenat Kazan.
Nonetheless, the Russian champions are enjoying a top form and it will be tough task to steal victory from them. They have assembled a great team, which has great potential to compete strong teams in the world. Let’s wait to see which side proves to be better.
