Volleyball Russia: Battle of sexes, girls rule, boys drool
Yes, this is right! Russian girls left the local boys behind in the challenging sport of volleyball. The Russian female squad created a great sizzle in professional volleyball 2010 season. They represented their country at various international events and
grabbed a lot of success on account of their stellar performances. Although the female fighters came across resilient rivals but managed to retain their poise, always finishing on the podium. The Russian musketeers proved their endeavours in every aspect of
the game and bundled off the 2010 season on a very successful note.
On the other hand, the Russian thugs couldn’t match their performances with their sassy compatriots. Although, they put up a great fight to dig up success for country but suffered some major blows. The start of the 2010 year was good for Russian men’s National
Volleyball Team but somehow they lost momentum and went down in world ranking.
The girls’ team was headed by Coach Vladimir Kuzyutkin, who played an instrumental role in leading the team to success. Kuzyutkin has spent many years serving Russian Volleyball. He started his career in 1982, mentoring local club teams. A couple of years
later, he was offered to take up the position of head coach of women’s national team. Kuzyutkin put his magic in the team and enabled them to clinch silver at the 2009 Grand Prix. In the running year, Russia’s Women’s National Volleyball team clawed its way
to gold-medal victory at the 2010 FIVB Women’s World Championship. In acknowledgement to the head coach’s services, he has been proposed with a renewed two-year contract.
Likewise, Daniele Bagnoli was attached with Russia Men’s Volleyball team as head coach. Russian team actively participated in the 2010 FIVB Men’s World League and gave above par performances. They managed to get their hands on the silver medal as Brazil
settled for gold at the 2010 FIVB World League. Later on, the team was expected to rise up but they did exactly the opposite. The downfall started as the Russian team demonstrated a poor performance at the 2010 FIVB Men’s World Championship in Italy. The team
couldn’t live up to the dream of catching top slot, finishing at fifth spot. Considering the unsatisfactory results of the Russian team, the Russian Volleyball Federation decided to lay off head coach, Daniele Bagnoli. In the meanwhile, Vladimir Alekno has
been offered to take up the daunting task of coaching the men’s squad for next two years. The Russian Volleyball Federation is hopeful that 2011 year will create new opportunities and Russian men will do better.
All the best!
