  1. Practice... duh

  2. One of the area coaches has put up some good skills and drills on his homepage.  I've attended a clinic with him and he's really great.

    Check it out at: http://www.volleyballfiles.com/

I know a lot of people are imperssed with big hits but focus more on passing and digging.  You can't hit the ball if you can't get it to your setter.

  3. try playing with/against the best playrs you know. practicing with the best can make you the best. have a positive attitude and never give up.

  4. Do little sets with a volleyball to your self laying on the ground 500 times a day. Bump the ball to yourself on a wall. Spike the ball to yourself. The easiest things with help SO much so just practice everyday. And also when you try out wear a bright colored shirt so you'll stand out and the coaches will notice you for you skills.

  5. One of the best ways to improve your playing skills is to get feedback on which area(s) you need most improving. This way, you can focus all your attention and effort on areas that really matter.

If you want to please the coach, you need to firstly understand what the coach is looking for in his players. Talk to your coach or read some coaching articles to understand the way they think and then do your best to give them what they want.

  6. try to fit in with all the other players, because they will see that you have good team chemistry

also, know when it is time to work and work hard with a good attitude

ask for help when you need it; this shows that you are willing to improve

    good luck!!

  7. team work, cooperation, toughness.....and my coach focuses on the serve since you can gain many points off of it.....mostly practice serving and build upper arm strength....

  8. they probably wanna see good form in your approach, a high jump, a hard swing, a good serve, aggresiveness, always trying your hardest, and always keepin your teammates' morale up.

  9. Get your bump, set and spike skills down cold...you could ask the coaches if they know any good drills.  That way, you're showing initiative that you want to be on the team.

    Good luck!

  10. Encourage other players

Show great effort by going after balls

    Have a  positive attitude

    Smile and have fun

If coach offers advice, listen carefully, and do exactly what she says.

    Hustle in everything you do.

    Good Luck!!!

  11. Making a team is not all about the talent. I have not met one coach in my 9 years of play that will cut someone that has heart and determination. If the coach asks you to do something like shag balls, you should be the first one out there, coming back with the most balls. If they say a 5 minute water break, be back in 3. Another way of attracting the coach's attention is by having a good sense of humor. Be careful not to be funny when they are trying to be serious.

You could also ask the coach what he thinks you need to work on, and if he can give you any drills to help you improve.  Don't ever ever be late to practice. This will show him that you don't care. Good luck!

  12. If your team is anything like mine, attitude is probably one of the most important things. Other than that, maybe you could go to the coaches and ask for some drills you can do by yourself. That will show them that you are interested on improving. Try your hardest, have a good attitude, pay attention at tryouts. That's really all I can say. Good luck!
