Volleyball Special: Brazilian Women’s Volleyball team hit the local grounds after world tour
Brazil is at the verge of hosting a wonderful volleyball event of Superliga Brasileira de Voleibol. The campaign has been launched by the Brazilian Volleyball Federation on Friday the 19th of November, 2010. Every year, the Superliga Competition provides
a chance for the aspiring young players of local clubs to demonstrate their skills and catch the limelight. Besides, the players who play at the international level also show up and share their knowledge of the game. In the recent memory, Brazil’s Women’s
National Volleyball Team attended the FIVB Women’s World Championship in Japan and settled for the Silver-ware at the event. The National Team will also be playing in the Superliga Brasilia with all 14 players except wing spiker Fenanda Garay.
The National Team failed to dismantle the power of the Russian team and lost the final showdown of World Championship to the mighty Russians. However, the President of Brazilian Volleyball Federation, Dr. Ary Graca officially launched the event (Superliga)
by presenting a trophy to each player that participated at the World Championship. It was a gesture of goodwill for team.
This time around, 12 teams from four different states of Brazil are fighting for the title trophy. The names of participating states are as followed:
Sao Paulo Minas Gerais Santa Catarina Rio de Janeiro
This is surely going to be an interesting event as the teams are fully prepared for the deadly combats. Once again, the ball will be rolling over the net and fans will be screaming out at the top of their lungs. Following teams are scheduled to hit the podium:
Sao Paulo
BMG/São Bernardo Pinheiros/Mackenzie São Caetano Sollys/Osasco Vôlei Futuro
Minas Gerais
Banana Boat/Praia Clube BMG/Mackenzie Usiminas/Minas
Santa Catarina

Unilever Macaé Sports
Sollys/Osasco (SP) are defending the title this year and have six top players in their squad. The wing spiker, Natalia Pereirra, Jaqueline, Sassa, libero Camila Brait, middle blockers Thaisa and Adenizia will be a major threat for any other squad in the
league. These players are enjoying a great form and have the potential to secure the title for another season. On the other hand, Unilever (RJ) will bring in setter Dani Lins, the wonderful Sheilla Castro as in opposite; libero Fabi and middle blocker Carol
Gattaz will be an extra advantage for the team. The opposite Joycinha and middle blocker Fabiana will be supporting Volei Futuro (SP), while setter Fabiola is playing for the Pinheiros/Machenzie (SP).
