Volleyball Uniform Question??

ok, well im playing varsity volleyball but they don't have and xtra small this year for my volleyball jersey. so i have to wear a small. it's big on me, is it against the rules for someone to tie the uniform with a hair tie or something? also, i have a lot of guy friends that only come to the vball games to watch me in spandex shorts cuz of course they are really really really tight :) lol, but that's why the guys are coming to the games and im starting to get a rep as the school s**t even though im not doing ANYTHING with the guys except for hanging out. how do i stop these rumors?

I dont think there's any rule against it but ask your coach.

Theres really not much you can do about the rumors except not make them come true and laugh them off.  But if your gonna play volleyball, there's not much you can do about the spandex shorts.

Volleyball is the best team sport in my opinon.  It provides great action when played at a high level and requires a total team effort to be successful.  

That being said, I really like the spandex shorts that the ladies wear these days are a nice sight especially compared to the briefs from back in the day.

Take the guys coming to the games to watch/gawk at you as a compliment.  You must have a nice bum!  I'm not sure why you'd have a rep because of this.

BTW don't they gawk at the other girls playing?

Also, where is your shirt big?  Is it sleeveless (meaning that the arm holes are oversized for you)?

Unfortunetley, you can't tie down your uniform as the hair tie or scunchie is not part of the uniform. As for your spandex issue, I would talk to your coach. There is a rule that allows long standard shorts (instead of spandex) as long as they are the same color. This may not work well with the entire look of the team and you should verify with your coach.

just tuck the front of your jersey in and get different spandex. spandex fit right if when you sit down and they expand with your thigh flab. also you could try a different brand. i like mizuino best. also you could keep from rolling up your spandex so high.

anyway, volleyball's about the game not the uniform :)

At our school, we've had to wear spandex up until last year because some of the parents complained. So our team went to d**k's Sporting Goods and found some extremely convenient shorts with spandex on the inside and are similar to soffe's on the outside. Just make sure you get your team's standard color.

The shorts that I have are called "ativa". They have a drawstring so you wouldn't have to worry too much about them being too small. Plus, if they were too small (and this is for the shirt too), I would go to some dry cleaner place and ask one of the professionals how to shrink either of them. :) Hopefully your coach would let you.

As for the guys, I agree with all the other people who said to let it roll off your back and the worst of the drama will be gone in a year or so.

im not sure about the outfit ive seen people do it before but im not sure if the ref may have been lenient on them but if its too big they shouldn't have problems, and about the people thinking your a s**t it's just jealousy, unless you make your rep to be a goody goody so they can't think your being a s**t then nothing else will work their just jealous plus high school drama is never worth what people make it you'll see when you graduate how dumb people were "back in the day"

Gordonmo is correct, as long as your number is showing you should be alright. You should be able to make the jersey comfortable without hiding the number.

As for the spandex, there's nothing you can really do unless your coach would allow you to wear basketball shorts over them. You could ask your coach if you could do that.

Other than that, I wouldn't really too much about them staring at you. You wear spandex in vball to make it easier to move around and play the game, not for guys to look at you in a sexual way. They are part of the uniform and if you wore baggier shorts it would be pretty difficult to dive for the ball / slide across the floor to make a play.

Just focus on playing volleyball at the game, don't worry about those guys staring at you. They are just trying to make you lose focus. Explain to them you have to wear spandex and it is the rules and part of your uniform. They are trying to get inside your head, just forget about them. They aren't really worth hanging out with if they are just going to spread false rumors. Pretend they don't exist, ignore them in class / in the hallway. If the situation worsens, notify your guidance counselor or assistant principal, they would be more than happy to sit down and talk things out with you. That is their job after all.

I'm a big volleyball fan and love to watch girls games, and no it's NOT because of the spandex. I just find the girls games more competitive than guys games and like to focus on the strategies coaches use to win the games.

It really depends on how you tie the uniform shirt.  Your number has to be clearly visible.  If your number is clearly visible, most referees should not have a problem.

No, you can't tie the uniform with a hair tie because the ref's will say something, but you can and may have to tuck it into your shorts. Don't worry about your other problem because you have to wear them for volleyball so that is not your fault.
