Gymnasium in Matsumoto, Japan at 1330 (local time). The turn-out of fans was great as it was the opening day of the tournament. The German team came strong on their opponents and secured the first match with wonderful victory.
First Set
The match started out on a slow pace and players took time to settle down in their positions. The early phase of the game was full of bad serves from both sides. Kazakhstan made a difference and scored the first two points of the game. The useful lead of
two points was very helpful for them, in order to dominate the other side. Nonetheless, Germany couldn’t stand the better status of Kazakhstan. They hit back strongly and added quick points with nice spikes. Germany continued with strike and took the score
of 10-8.

at the second technical timeout. The clouds of un-certainty surrounded Kazakhstan’s team and they failed to stop Germany from scoring points. Too many unforced reception errors pushed Kazakhstan behind, while Germany outshined in the game. Two consecutive
errors by Jarlagassova and Irina Zaitseva of Kazakhstan helped Germany to score a 25-14 victory in second set.
Third Set
Germany was all pumped up after capturing the opening two sets of the game. They were resolved to repeat the same performance and earn match victory against Kazakhstan. On the other hand, Kazak ladies had a hard time to formulize good strategy in order to
survive. They put up good effort and stayed close to Germany’s score until the first technical timeout. Germany’s Kozuch attempted a nice spike which perfectly landed in the targeted area. Moreover, Kathleen Weiss contributed strong point with her killing
serves. Germany was 21-8 at the first technical timeout.
