Volleyball Update: The Prospects of the Amazing Duo of Women’s Beach Volleyball (Juliana/Larissa)
The defending champion of 14th Klagenfurt Beach Volleyball Women’s Tournament 2010, Juliana Felisberta Silva of Brazil cut the cake of her 27th birthday on July 22nd in Fortaleza with her family. She and her team-mate Larissa Franca are hoping to receive one more gift at A-1 Grand Slam tournament in Austria.
The strong Brazilian pair, Juliana and Larissa aim to make their way to the final victory in the on-going Klagenfurt Championship. Since the start of this tournament on 26th July, 2010, the duo has made their presence felt by the game witnesses. Nothing could hold them back from moving forward. Juliana and Larissa helped a pair of wins during the opening pool matches and totally dominated the scene.
The top-seeded players of SWATCH FIVB World Tour, Juliana/Larissa defeated the Austrian and American pairs in the Pool A matches and created a solid ground under their feet. They moved to the next phase of the contest and joined the top three pairs of each group who advanced to the single-elimination bracket of 24 teams.
Juliana and Larissa attended the last two Grand Slam tournaments in Norway and Switzerland, where they rocked the sand with their outstanding performance. Somehow, they skipped the World Series 13 tournament which was held in Marseille, France last week. Juliana considered it a great help in order to be prepared for the next Grand Slam stops in Austria and Poland. The two weeks break proved fruitful, as they have delivered a wonderful game in the current tournament.
Both the players are enjoying the best days of their career and the luck is totally standing beside them at every moment. So far, in the current year, they have captured eight international titles which is a record. The union of Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca since 2004 has brought them great honours. They crowned 33 gold medals this season and altogether 79 in the previous SWATCH Tournaments. The partnership of two great beach volleyball players is a serious threat for all other teams in the tournament.
Juliana and Larissa were placed first, second and fifth in the first SWATCH stops in the running year and as a result, they achieved 16-3 match mark. They look perfect to mark their position with 27-1 before entering into the final pool play of Klagenfurt Tournament.
The amazing duo targets to achieve the highest spot in world ranking like Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh who are considered “the greatest beach volleyball team of all times”. Juliana and Larissa need only three more titles to catch the highest spot in the game of beach volleyball. That’s why they are putting a lot of hard-work to improve their game and use every opportunity for their advantage.
The Brazilian pair is quickly making their way to the higher stages but yet they need to cope with some of the trouble-makers in their coming games. They are required to outplay Kolocova and Slukova of Slovakia in order to win the Pool A.
Juliana and Larissa have to pay attention to every small point in the game. Their fellow Brazilian team, Vivian Cunha and Taiana Lima in the Pool H are also raising their head after defeating top teams from Brazil and Austria.
In the Pool G, host country Austria has 10th-seeded players Doris and Stefani, who defeated the Spanish and Russian teams and now prepare for the further kill. The Pool B is influenced by the Georgian team which stole victory from the Fabian sisters of Slovenia.
Juliana and Larissa are among the favourites and if they keep on the same track, victory is definitely waiting for them.
All the best Juliana and Larissa!
