Volleyball Update: Tunisia beat Morocco in the semi-final of 14th African Nations Championship
The 14th African Nations Championship is in full swing under the flag of the Confederation Africane de Volleyball (CAVB). The city of Misurata, Libya has been the host of this campaign, which started off on 1st October, 2010. The championship
covered the early phase and revealed amazing results.
In the recent memory, Tunisia collided with Morocco in the classical semi-final match on Wednesday, 6th October, 2010. Both teams reached this stage after putting a lot of effort and dedication into their game. The semi-final match was a tiring
battle which completed its run in five sets. Tunisia proved to be stronger team and outplayed Morocco with a score of 3-2 (23-25, 25-18, 25-20, 18-25, and 15-13). By this particular win, Tunisia qualified for the final showdown of 14th African Nations
Championship on Sunday, 10th October, 2010.
Detailed Synopsis
The first set was overpowered by the Moroccans. The team enjoyed good rhythm and tone in order to dominate the Tunisian side. The organised game of Morocco’s team put a huge impact on Tunisia. They successfully hindered their performance but ultimately Tunisia
came out of blues and scored quick points. Tunisia attacked with convincing shots and fought like a real warrior. Morocco tried to put pressure on Tunes by hitting tricky aces but Tunisia resisted to their movement and survived the heavy strike. The first
set was point-to-point fight between two teams. Finally, Morocco got an edge and finished the set with a superb kill at 25-23.
Tunisia lost the set with a difference of two points but it didn’t get them down. The Tunisian hitters brought more ferocity in their attack and made a difference by taking a lead in the second set. The charged-up Moroccans hit weak areas of Tunisian squad.
On the other hand, Tunisian players stood firm in their positions and covered every inch of the court. Tunisia maintained a fair gap of points and quickly moved to the finish line. They kept on moving with same momentum and gradually rose up as the winner
of second set with a lead of six points. They levelled the score by posting 25-18 over Morocco.
Tunisia promptly recovered from the shock of loss in first set. Their confidence was restored and they moved forward with fast pace. Morocco hit back nice shots to get their pride back but Tunisian team defended its position with implausible defence. Third
set saw the most deadly attack attempts from Morocco. Somehow, Tunisian team managed to keep balance and rebounded ball in Moroccan court with equal power. Tunisia played with more discipline and clawed its way to another set-victory. They achieved the mark
25-20 and secured third set.
After unsuccessful attempts in third set, Morocco was desperate to change the mood of game. The fourth set was full of speedy spikes and quick bump passes. Tunisia tightly held their grip on the ball but Moroccan hitters created a lot trouble for them. Moroccan
got an edge due to a camp-fire, in which ball was dropped between two players. It brought a positive change for Morocco and they added quick points to push Tunisia behind. They secured fourth set and created another chance for them to play in the fifth set.
The final set was a bruising encounter between two teams. The 15-point golden set was played under huge pressure. Both teams struggled to gain control of the game and score rose up with a narrow difference. As the finish line was coming near, the suspense
and uncertainty was building up. The situation remained un-decided until the last moment. Finally, Tunisia got their hands on victory with a powerful serve. Tunisia clinched a spot in the final match of 14th African Nations Championship.
