Volleyball Update: Tunisia gets full advantage of home-crowd and wins the opening match
Tunisia is hosting the 13th Women’s Junior African Nations Championship under the supervision of Confederation Africane de Volleyball (CAVB). The championship is attended by the young stars from five different African countries. Rwanda, Cote d’Ivoire,
and Algeria are playing in the tournament along with defending champion Egypt and host Tunisia. The fire was ignited with first two matches on the opening day of the championship on Thursday.
The Egyptian ladies came across Algerian team in the first match and clinched victory in straight sets. They posted a 3-0 (29-27, 25-16, and 25-14) victory over Algeria. Likewise, the home-team saw Cote d’Ivoire on the other side of the court for their first
match. The presence of local crowd made it easy for the Tunisian team to perform in an exquisite way and received huge applause from fans. Tunisia made its mark by capturing the first match against Cote d’Ivoire.
Tunisia vs. Cote d’Ivoire 3-0 (25-11, 25-1, and 25-8)
Cote d’Ivoire was strongly labelled as the underdog team, while the Tunisia squad was full of experienced and skill-full players. The match was a one-sided fight as home-side heavily influenced the guest team with a stellar performance.
Tunisia opened the match with powerful serves and built an early lead. The Cote d’Ivoire’s team was excited to get the exposure at a bigger platform and play against internationally famed teams. It was a great chance for them to experience and learn new
techniques. Tunisia kept an upper hand on them in the first set and easily managed to steal points from them.
Tunisian enjoyed their dominance on the Cote d’Ivoire’s team and quickly covered the length of first set. They restricted their opponent’s score to a low stake and stood in their way like a concrete wall. Cote d’Ivoire could only help 11 points in the first
set and acknowledged Tunisia’s rule.
The second set also started in symmetrical way as the ball stayed in Cote d’Ivoire’s half for most of time. Tunisia had a good opportunity to try different strategies as they had no fear of loss from the other side. The Tunisian queens were all over the
scene in second set and kept the local crowd entertained for the whole time. Cote d’Ivoire’s team suffered from worst knock-out from Tunisia in second. The team totally failed to add any points in their score except just one point. Tunisia added points after
points in their score and rocked the podium with remarkable 25-1 victory over Cote d’Ivoire.
The results seemed very much predictable after two sets. Cote d’Ivoire’s team failed to pose any threat on the other side. The devastating score in first two sets drained all the energy out of their bodies in third set. They had no power on Tunisia. Anyhow,
the show had to go on, the third set started in usual style. Cote d’Ivoire’s team seemed totally helpless and couldn’t put up with the electrifying shots of Tunisian hitters. In the meantime, Cote d’Ivoire earned a few points duo ball illegal hits of Tunisian
players. Nonetheless, it didn’t bug the Tunisian squad. Tunisia was way ahead in the game than Cote d’Ivoire.
Tunisia put an end to the drama and finished the third set with a score of 25-8. The victory embarked on Tunisian squad and they joined Egypt in the winners’ circle.

The Women’s Junior African Nations Championship is rout for the team to reach the 2011 FIVB Women’s Junior World Championship, which is the main attraction for teams. The winners of this competition will jump-on the board of FIVB World Championship. Yet the
final ratings have to come on final day of this championship.
