Volleyball Update: Turkish setter Naz Aydemir makes headlines as the youngest team player
Turkey is one of the top-three teams of Pool D in the FIVB Women’s World Championship, which is in full swing these days. The international women’s volleyball event was started off on October 29 with the first preliminary stage and the activity will be rounded
off on November, 14, 2010. Japan is the host of this event. Turkey is placed in Pool D along with Russia, South Korea, China, Dominican Republic and Canada. Turkey is playing with a very pumped-up squad.
Up till today, Turkey has appeared in four matches and they lost just one match to Russia on the second day of the tournament. The team is equipped with great player line and it has earned a good reputation in the championship so far. Naz Aydemir, the setter
of Turkey’s team has been influential in the success of her team. Naz has been under the limelight for being the youngest player in the championship. The talented player is only 20 years old but she has turned many heads around by performing exquisitely against
the tough teams of the world. Young Naz is very quick in the court. She has this wonderful ability to float the ball with perfect timing and to pass it to the hitters.
The young Turkish player has very strong volleyball background as she was born to parents who both played the game. Naz was born in 1990 and she joined Turkey’s Senior Team as setter at the age of 15. Her mother was a middle blocker, while her father used
to play as opposite. Naz got early volleyball training from her parents. She is the only child of her parents but it is generally believed that if there was a brother, he would probably be a volleyball player too. Since the age of 15, Naz has played a vital
role in the team to bring honour to her country.
Naz takes no pressure of the game and remains cool during the play. She expressed her views, “I always try to combine my way of playing with fun; light-hearted and without too many expectations. In every game I have the unique chance to show my talent. Why
not accept the challenge? If I’m in trouble, my more experienced teammates provide me with new energy and confidence.”
Naz has a firm faith that she needs a lot of improvement and she is always keen to learn more about the game. The player has a bright future ahead of her.
